Aparna, I don't consider myself a gamer either, but I must admit there are some video games that that conjure up sensations that are very distinct and unforgettable, like Rez (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rez) and Ico (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ico). I find myself thinking about these games again and again though I never have time to actually play them again. It's really not that much different from reading an engrossing, escapist novel which, as a bookworm, I'm sure you can relate to.

I love Swoon, too. I'm on the lookout for her stuff whenever I go downtown though I've seen less of it lately (she seems quite the world traveler now).

I know what you mean about games and emotion. Having grown up with them, I have a bit of a different perspective but I can still put myself in the place of an outsider sometimes and see how silly it must all seem. There are some new types of games that you might connect with, though. For instance, activist games like Darfur is Dying.

Loved the swoon stuff - the talk was illuminating and some of her work is really fantastic and some of it I don't quite get.
Loved all the stuff - except the love letter to games. Slick and all but not being a gamer - yes I know shoot me - I just don't get the whole love/fascination/obsession thing with video games.
